Junior Teaching Position at the Department of Communication Science

Your function

We are looking for a recent graduate who wants to join our department as junior teacher, starting August 15th, 2026.

As a junior teacher you will be mainly involved in teaching in our Bachelor’s Programme in Communication Science, which has both an English and a Dutch track. Project-based learning and active teaching methods are key in our programme. Contact between teachers and students is important to us.

Your duties

  • prepare and supervise work groups in several courses within our programmes;
  • supervise bachelor theses;
  • grade papers and prepare exams;
  • act as a mentor for bachelor students;
  • carry out coordination and administrative tasks for the benefit of education within our programmes;
  • participate in development and innovation teams and projects on educational innovation;
  • engage in self-development by partaking in the University Teaching Qualification programme.

Your profile

  • Master’s degree in Communication Science or related study;
  • affinity with teaching and interest in innovating and improving academic education;
  • good understanding of research methods and techniques, as evidenced for example by a master’s thesis;
  • experience with the programme R is preferred;
  • be able to work well together within a team of teachers;
  • you have (or are working towards) language proficiency at C1 level in Dutch and English;
  • already based in the Netherlands.

We offer you:

  • a salary of minimum € 3.546,00 (Scale 10) and maximum € 5.538,00 (Scale 10) gross per month, on a full-time basis. This is based on UFO profile Teacher 4. The exact salary depends on your education and experience.
  • a position for at least 0.8 FTE. The contract will be for 4 years, including an approbation period.

  • A full-time 38-hour working week comes with a holiday leave entitlement of 232 hours per year. If you choose to work 40 hours, you have 96 extra holiday leave hours on an annual basis. For part-timers, this is calculated pro rata.
  • 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus
  • solid pension scheme (ABP)
  • contribution to commuting expenses
  • optional model for designing a personalized benefits package.
