Administration Office

The Administration Office has a broad remit. We are the sole partner in legal expertise for all organisational units within the university. But we are also responsible for research and valorisation policy, academic integrity, external research funding, document management/archiving, Public Affairs and operations management. Furthermore, we safeguard university-wide governance, compliance and control. Academic ceremonies, like the PhD defence and inaugural lectures, also fall within our remit. The Staff Ombudsman, the Student Ombudsman, the Internal Auditor and the Data Protection Officer also come under the umbrella of the Administration Office.

We at the AO work closely with faculties and service departments to fulfil the administrative agenda of the university. We partner to guide VU Amsterdam strategy towards creating a better world from within a positive view of the future, grounded in the unrivalled potential of teamwork. We transcend the boundaries of the academic disciplines, which is the ultimate way of generating impact.

You will be involved with the strategies and policies, as well as the day-to-day management of a leading-edge university. While working within a small close-knit team, you will also interact with representatives of diverse organisational units right across the university. AO employs a total of 90 staff spread over 7 departments.
