VU application: process, screening and participation

The VU application process contains several components.

As soon as we receive your application, usually in the form of a CV and covering letter, we will send you an automatic confirmation of your application. Our aim is to give you an initial response to your application as soon as possible. This will normally be within two weeks of the closing date for the vacancy.

A selection committee will assess whether you meet the requirements of the job. They will invite you for an interview.

Interviews usually take place at the VU campus, but sometimes via video interview. For this purpose, the VU uses MS Teams.

Pre-employment screening

Integrity is a basic prerequisite for working towards a better world. That is why we carry out pre-employment screening for new employees. We always ask for a diploma. You do not have to send this in with your application: we ask for it later in the procedure.
Depending on the position, we may also ask for references, a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) and/or an assessment. In the context of knowledge security, we may also review publicly available social media accounts and public statements made by the applicant on the internet.
The vacancy will indicate which pre-employment screening tool(s) will be used.

Internal candidate

If an internal candidate applies at the same time as you, preference will be given to the internal candidate if they are equally qualified. We want to encourage growth and development within our organisation by providing opportunities for our current employees to take on new challenges.

Even if you are new to VU, we value your talent and experience. We always carefully consider the suitability of all candidates before making a final decision.

BIG register (BRIC)

ACTA is the Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam. ACTA educates students to become the dentists of the future and is also a specialist treatment centre for dentistry. Are you going to work at ACTA? Then a BIG registration as a dentist or dental assistant is required.
