Assistant Professor Law & Technology

We are looking for an Assistant Professor to join ALTI.amsterdam, the Amsterdam Law & Technology Institute. Become a member of our team of over 10 specialists to define the future of the field through innovative research and teaching.

Your function

You will do research in one of the areas of the research program Law & Technology, or you can develop your own line of research. In terms of teaching you will supervise master theses and coordinate 2-3 courses from our 20 bachelor and master courses. You will also be involved in the supervision of Ph.D candidates. We encourage valorisation.

Your profile

  • Ph.D degree in the area of Law & Technology
  • Specialised or interest in cybersecurity or digital sovereignty is an advantage
  • Dutch language skills are an advantage

What do we offer?

  • a salary of minimum € 4.728,00 (Scale 11) and maximum € 6.433,00 (Scale 11) gross per month, on a full-time basis. This is based on UFO profile Assistant Professor 2 (UD2). The exact salary depends on your education and experience.
  • a position for at least 0.8 FTE. Your employment contract will initially last 18 months. Afterwards, there is a prospect of a permanent contract.

We also offer you attractive fringe benefits and regulations. Some examples:

  • A full-time 38-hour working week comes with a holiday leave entitlement of 232 hours per year. If you choose to work 40 hours, you have 96 extra holiday leave hours on an annual basis. For part-timers, this is calculated pro rata.
  • 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus
  • a wide range of sports facilities which staff may use at a modest charge
  • contribution to commuting expenses
  • optional model for designing a personalized benefits package

At the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam’s Faculty of Law we train lawyers and criminologists to develop sharp critical minds, with a strong focus on the societal relevance of law. We offer Bachelor’s programmes in four main fields: Law, Notarial Law, Law in Society and Criminology. In addition, we offer an extensive range of Master’s programmes as well as contract education (for non-student visitors). Much of our research is both international and multidisciplinary in character.
